Ever since
Windows 10 was released, Microsoft has brought a numerous updates for it. This
has been the anniversary update, the creators update and recently the company
and will the new for creators update. These updates have brought various cool
features to the operating system of our PC. This also means that there are some
hidden options and tricks in Windows 10 that you might have missed out on. Well
that's what today’s article.
Today I'm going to tell you eight cool Windows
10 tricks and features that are fairly unknown.

1.AUTOMATICALLY LOCK YOUR PC:
There are
situations when you get up from your office desk to do some other things, but you
forget to lock your laptop. Well, you would not wish your co-workers to take a
peek inside your laptop. Would you? Well this is where the cool new feature
dynamic lock feature comes into play. Dynamic lock automatically locks on your
PC when you're away you has to enable it.
Here the steps to be follow:
1. First
you will have to pair your phone to your PC via Bluetooth.
2. Just go
to Settings.
3. Then go
to accounts, here go to sign-in option.
4. Here
scroll down below and check the option under dynamic lock and click the allow
button.
5. Now whenever
you move away from your laptop with your phone, your laptop will automatically
be locked when your phone is out of the computer's Bluetooth range.
Well that's a cool feature right? Lot more to come.
Note: This feature might only be available on the Windows 10 creators update.
2. SET UP AND SCHEDULE NIGHT LIGHT:
If you
tend to use a laptop pc for long working hours particularly at night, you might
have felt a small discomfort in your eyes. Well that is because of the blue
light which comes from the display. Well Windows users have used flux that filters
out the blue light from the display. Windows now offers a native solution,
that’s night light feature. This is also a cool feature.
Appropriate steps to be follow:
1. Just go
window settings, here go to system, then display.
2. You
should see the nightlight option here.
3. Just enable
it and you will see the color temperature of the screen change to more
warmer tone.
4. You can
now also personalize things if you want.
5. You can
schedule nightlight from sunset to sunrise or set a custom time.
6. This should definitely make viewing that
state night much more easy.
v Do note that this particular feature
requires Windows 10 creators update to be installed in a PC.
3. RECORD STEPS OF A PARTICULAR TASK:
Teaching
some steps to do a particular task on windows through text or a call can be
very difficult. The best way is through images. Well not many people know that
windows includes a cool steps record a feature that well because all your steps
you can just launch step recorder through katana. A small window will be open up just tap the
start record button to record the steps you want to show someone. For instance
I'm enabling the dark theme. Once done click stop. Windows will show you the
steps, which you just did in windows to record. You can also be able to review
the steps and even add any comments to it while recording steps. This should
come very handy feature trust me.
4. STICKY NOTES WITH INSIGHTS:
You must
have used sticky notes on your Laptop. But, did you know that they have a
really intellectual feature? Just open sticky notes by searching it in cortana > In the sticky note hit the menu button > Click on the gear icon at the bottom > Enable
the insights option. Once done you will just write a note like get the bike
checked tomorrow and you will see the tomorrow highlighted. You can just click
on it to save the note as a reminder in Cortana in your PC. You can even
specify the time in the note itself which is an very useful trick. Let's start
all, you can even note down mobile numbers and then dial it through sticky
notes.
5. USE EMOJI ANYWHERE IN YOUR LAPTOP:
Emoji’s have
become an major part of our conversation on the Internet. Sadly there's no way
to type an emoji easily from the hardware keyboard. The good news is now you
can send emoji’s from the on-screen windows keyboard.
Just right-click on the taskbar. Press the “show
touch keyboard button” option. Now the touch keyboard will be available to you at
all time. You can just open it go to the emoji page and send as many emoji’s as
you want. This is an Amazing feature.
6. SOME HANDY
KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS:
There are
various Keyboard shortcuts are there to use in Windows computer and there's some great keyboard
shortcuts you can use in Windows 10 to make your work easy.
SOME OF THE KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS:
- Windows + print screen to save a screenshot of the full screen.
- Windows + shift + S to capture a part of the screen.
Another keyboard shortcut that I really like is, press f2 to rename files and folders.. These are some really cool Windows 10 tricks and hidden shortcuts and features.
7. GET PHONE NOTIFICATIONS ON WINDOW:
Checking notifications
on your phone while you working on your laptop isn’t a good experience. You can
get your mobile notifications on your Windows PC. For that you just need to
install the Cortana app on your Android smartphone. Then setup Cortana with the
same Microsoft account that you use on your PC. Once it's set up, tap on the profile
icon in the Cortana > Go to settings > tap on the option Sync settings
> Now just enable notifications for missed calls, messages, apps etc. Once
done, open up your Windows PC and go to Cortana settings in your laptop. Here
click on the notifications and enable the button-send notifications between
devices. You can also able to click on manage notifications to make sure
notification syncing from your phone is enabled. Once done you can now access
notifications of your smartphone from your laptop. You can be able to respond
to messages and calls of your mobile right from your PC now.
8. FREE UP STORAGE VIA STORAGE SENSE:
If you
have a high-end Windows laptop with an SSD, you must have paste storage
problems once in a while. Windows 10 brings a great storage management. In the
system page of settings, just go to the ‘storage’ option. Here you will find,
all the drives that in your Laptop. You have to click on a drive to get the specified
details around what's using up the storage on your device. So you can remove
the files that you do not really need. There are also some temporary files and
you will be able to simply click on that to delete temporary files, downloaded
files, empty the recycle bin and files from a previous Windows version. If you
do not wish to travel through the effort of cleanup these files every now and then, you can
enable Storage sense which deletes temporary files from apps and files in the
recycle bin, that have been there for over 30 days. Now this is surely free up
some space for you.
